Oral error correction is an important factor in facilitating learners’ speaking skills and oracy development. Correction needs to be conducted sensitively to ensure that learners develop both accuracy and fluency, and it needs to be balanced with positive feedback and encouragement. In this session, we will cover various oral correction techniques for both on-the-spot correction and after-the-event correction, and how to deal with types of errors , including grammar, lexis and pronunciation. Attendees should leave feeling confident that they can deal with this aspect of teaching effectively using a variety of methods.
